We believe U.S. timber and American hardwoods have a rising market challenge, but not an overwhelming one. We believe that with powerful promotional efforts, advocacy campaigns, and educational programs, the industry can thrive like never before.

We believe the timber and hardwood industries have a great story to tell about the sustainability of this natural resource, and the durability and beauty of the products we create. We believe in the environmental and health benefits of using hardwoods in design.

The Timber & Forestry Foundation (TFF) promotes the sustainable U.S. timber and American hardwoods industries, representing U.S.-based companies and trade organizations associated with the industry and related industries, and the full range of U.S. timber and hardwood products and by-products, including lumber, veneer, plywood, flooring, cabinetry, moulding, furniture, and other materials.

All TFF programs and efforts are intended to broaden and bolster the outreach into U.S. and international markets by encouraging national and worldwide demand for U.S. timber and American hardwood products.

The U.S. timber and hardwoods industry needs multifaceted and modern campaigns to help battle misconceptions about the resource and influence the design community and the public to use — and choose — U.S. hardwoods because they are the most sustainable and beautiful in the world.

The Plan:

The Timber & Forestry Foundation, or TFF, intends to develop campaigns employing modern marketing tactics, including print, digital, and live events, to reach into U.S. and international markets and encourage national and worldwide demand for U.S. timber and American hardwood products.

The TEDx Talk

The Timber & Forestry Foundation's founding director was recently featured as a TEDx speaker. In this informative talk, Criswell explains with data how the use of American hardwoods in building and design is good for the environment and actually part of a being a good steward of the natural resource of trees.
